Self-Conception & Objectives
TKI – Tyrolean Cultural Initiatives/IG Culture Tyrol (founded in 1988) is both network and representative of free cultural initiatives in Tyrol. At the moment, it counts Tyrol-wide over 130 initiatives (cultural associations, collective groups, work groups) among its members. The variety of members reflects the range of contemporary art in Tyrol.
TKI understands itself as a politico-cultural formative power fighting, together with its members, for clear general conditions and lasting improvement of autonomous cultural work in Tyrol.
It is an independent and nonpartisan institution, participating in public politico-cultural discourse and steadily pointing to the important long-term effect of free, non-profit cultural work. Cultural initiatives contribute in a complex way to the development of vital contemporary art and culture.
TKI sees itself as platform for cultural initiatives laying special emphasis on the following aspects:
- Support and production of contemporary experimental art and art forms.Contribution to development of cultural variety in Tyrol
- Support of the young generation of artists
- Support of social interaction and “civil-social” commitment of people living in Tyrol
- Support of variety of opinion expressed by alternative publicities and the opening-up of rooms for discourse
TKI is also a service centre of advice and linking-up for people producing culture and as such a contact institution for all questions concerning cultural work. It closely co-operates with experts (lawyers, tax advisers etc.) and offers practically oriented information with a view to organisation of associations, sponsoring, legal and tax issues and the like.As for practically oriented further education in the field of culture, TKI periodically offers culture-specific information and training events. Seminars and workshops organised by TKI orient themselves on the needs of people producing culture, this way closing a gap in what Tyrol culturally offers.
